PAST EVENTS AND INITIATIVES

Post-Abortion Care Package Initiative

Since March 2023, NCJW SF has partnered with local communities to make care packages which are given to people experiencing abortions and other physically and mentally difficult procedures in the Bay Area. This initiative grew from NCJW SF’s desire to express our support for reproductive rights and reproductive healthcare access. The care packages contain comforting and helpful items, including chocolates, tea bags, instant hot packs, maxi pads, and notes of support. Volunteers also make care packages for healthcare providers and clinic staff.

The care packages have been donated to local reproductive health clinics, including:

  • Planned Parenthood San Francisco
  • Planned Parenthood Walnut Creek
  • SF General Women’s Options Center
  • San Mateo General Hospital
  • FPA Women’s Health in Berkeley, Modesto, and Sacramento

Reporter Yonatan Greenberg described NCJW SF’s efforts in an article for The J. Read the article here.

Thank you to Congregation Am Tikvah San Francisco, Congregation Beth Am Los Altos, and Peninsula Temple Beth El San Mateo for your collaboration!
